Write or Die Wednesday's: I want to be a lioness.

Joining up with The Chronicles of Chaos (a day late) for the bi-weekly Write or Die Wednesday's.

Write or Die Wednesdays

Today's weekly writing prompt is:

I want to be a lioness.
I want to be in charge of my own life.
I don't want people telling me what to do,
I don't want to live in fear or what other's think
I don't want people I call 'family' making me feel guilty for what I want.
becoming a parent {soon} has made me want to be in charge of my own.
I'm in the progress of removing all the negative people from my life.
I'm in the progress in creating a lionheart so I can show my children courage.
Lion's protect their packs and I need to also.
It's time to take charge and stand up for myself.
It's time to create my own dreams & watch them come true
It's time to stop being a coward & hoping that people will change.
It's time to allow my inner strength to shine through.
I think becoming a parent makes you protective.
I want to protect my young from the negative and teach them to be strong.
I don't want my children to live in fear like I have
but to learn to respect others while standing for their beliefs.

I will become a lioness and fear no more
I will become a lioness - so hear my roar!

Baby Shower!

This past weekend was so amazing!
Saturday we had our baby shower!!!
Being surrounded by so many people who have blessed our lives celebrating this life that is about to enter the world. It's overwhelming to think that we never thought we'd be here. We'd never thought we'd be parents or have a shower or decorate a nursery.. but here we are!
Again, we are so blessed!

I put together a slide show so that you can see all the goodies we received. We were all having so much fun that nobody thought of taking pictures of the actual shower - oops! My husband took a video of the us opening gifts and we took pictures from that.

We had a jungle themed shower that was thrown by my husbands command. They picked a beautiful activity center that overlooked a gorgeous pool. The co-ed shower was a mix of friends of mine and co-workers of my husbands.. it's was beautiful! Our amazing cake got tipped over during transport but it was so delicious all the same!!
{We later found our that the same bakery that made our wedding cake - made our baby shower cake.. now that's awesome!}

I just have to say, before we get to pictures, how incredibly thankful we are. We have been blessed with so many wonderful people in our lives. So many friends over the years that have become family and so many relationships that have blossomed. We are both so excited about parenthood & have the 'celebration' of we have accomplished meant the world to us!
Alright I'll stop being all emotional and play the video. lol

30 weeks!

I seriously can not believe that we are already into our 30th week!! I have to admit that I'm starting to get really nervous about giving birth in a short 12 - 14 weeks.. but it will all be worth it.

How far along?  30 weeks
Weight gain/Loss: 8 pounds
Sleep: I have had to start taking Benadryl to help me sleep - per Dr's orders.
Best Moment of the Week: I finally talked the husband into a pool! This baby loves being in water and I love how it takes a lot of the pregnancy pressures away.
Movements: This kid moves a lot. Esp in the mornings between 5:30 and 6am and a lot in the evenings.. about the same time at night. Mid afternoons the baby moves around quite a bit too.
Food Cravings / aversions: I don't really think that I have 'cravings' but I lean more towards smoothies {Caribbean Passion from Jamba Juice}, a toasted Club from Subway, and anything potato. I still can't handle chicken of any kind and the smell of peanut butter is extremely disgusting.
Pregnancy Symptoms: I don't think I really have any pregnancy symptoms at this point.
What I miss: I miss alcohol
Stretch Marks: I don't have any stretch marks, from pregnancy, at this point in my pregnancy.
Belly Button: I don't think I'm going to have an 'done button' just because it's not even close to being even with my skin yet. I can definitely feel my stomach stretching more and more.
Wedding Rings: I haven't been able to wear my wedding rings for a while now.
Mood: Great demeanor I would say esp now that I can sleep.
Labor Signs: I have had a couple of braxton hicks contractions already but nothing major.
Milestones: We have officially hit the third trimester and it's exciting!
Upcoming events/appointments: We start our Lamaze classes on May 6th - June 2nd
(Tuesday's and Wednesday's)
What I look forward too:  We have our baby shower in a couple of weeks (May 16th) and I'm super excited about that.

That's all I got for ya'll right now but I'm pretty sure I'll be posting about my baby shower. I hope everyone has a great week & thanks for stopping by!!

Write or Die Wednesdays: FOG

Write or Die Wednesdays

I'm so excited to be joining up again with The Chronicles of Chaos again for my second bi-weekly Write or Die writing challenge.
I love this writing challenge and I'm in love with being apart of this link up!
I keep calling this a challenge but it's a great writing excersice.
Today's writing topic is Fog.

Fog is know to describe feelings such as confusion, frustration, anxiousness and is in relation to personal, and sometimes career, issues.

Jake needed to think. He had so much swimming around in his head, so he decided to take a evening stroll. He grabbed a light coat for this mid October evening and decided to take his golden retriever, Buddy, for a quick walk around the neighborhood. After attaching the leash to Buddy's collar they headed down the walkway. He knew that this move was going to be stressful but he had no idea how hard it would be. He had only been here a week and missed Oklahoma already but he couldn't pass up that job offer. He took a deep breath and turned the corner onto the next street.

California was beautiful and the weather was amazing. Jake knew that over time they would both grow to love this new place and maybe one day call it home. As he walked down the street he noticed the missing sidewalks and street lights. He thought about how back home he would be racking leaves on weekends and enjoying the excitement of the college football game. How Brian would be showing off his latest grill invention this fall. He thought back on the trails he & Buddy had grown to love.  The thought of the beaches that he and Buddy would visit over the next couple of years. Wondered if his dog would get used to the ocean instead of the lakes they knew.

As they turned another corner they abruptly stopped looking down the dark unlit street he was about to walk down. Jake suddenly noticed that now that the sun was completely gone and that fog had taken up residence. It seemed to be rising from the ground to the sky, the fog was thick making it hard for him to see his surroundings. He felt a pang of panic as he turned around to realize that he was now engulfed in the thick fog. Gripping onto the Buddy's leash he turned back the way he had come hoping to be able to find his way home.

The tree's danced in the evening breeze and seemed glow against the night sky being illuminated the front porch lights. He noticed the tree limbs were bare and it gave the fog covered sky more of a creepy feel. He thought back to a scary movie he had seen as a kid and half expected a man with a chain saw to jump out at them. Buddy's low growl startled him even more but made him chuckle when he saw the cat dart under the nearby truck. Jake turned his focus back on the road and realized that he was about to turn on his street.

As Jake and Buddy started to turn down their street he could hear the roar of a car engine but the car lights were so dimmed due to the thick fog. Jake realized that he hadn't ever seen fog this heavy before even in all those late fall Oklahoma nights. The fog made Jake realize that he couldn't keep living in the past. He had made the decision to move to California for the new adventure. That while the fog was engulfing him now tomorrow the sky would be bright and he decided to use the metaphor moving forward.  As him & Buddy walked through the front door he smiled back over his shoulder at the fog. He realized the he would never be scared of fog again and looked forward to what the days ahead held for him and Buddy. He looked around at all the boxes that still needed to be unpacked and he wasn't so stressed out anymore. Giving Buddy's head a light pat he walked towards his brightly lit kitchen and smiled. He was ready to embrace this new State and call it home.

That's my story on fog.

I hope you join this link up with me! If you do or have let me know so I can go check out your creative story!!
