Stagecoach 2015

Oh my goodness I can't believe that Stagecoach is already over!! It went by so fast!! I mean we bought our tickets last August and I just can't believe that it's time to start thinking about 2016!! If you follow me on instagram then you may have already seen a couple of these pictures from this past weekend.

We left on Thursday and headed to a Best Western in 29 Palms. We arrived at the hotel close to 10:30 that night and realized that we were so anxious to arrive at the hotel = that we forgot food. We headed back out to the nearest fast food place and it just happened to be Del Taco. Which wasn't the greatest decision of our lives.. but it was literally the only place around. So I spent my first night of our vacation with heartburn.

One of the perks of staying at this Best Western was that they fed us breakfast every morning - oh and the pool. While 8 am came super early it gave us enough time to eat breakfast and then head to the pool for a couple of hours.

So for the next three days that became our routine. We'd eat breakfast and then go to the pool for two or three hours. The pool was semi heated and was just amazing. There is no feeling in the world like swimming while pregnant & this kiddo loves to be in the pool!!  My husband really enjoyed the hot tub along with the pool. I mean this was meant to be a vacation for the both of us so I was super happy to see that he was enjoying the relaxation of the venue.

Around 12:30 we reluctantly left the pool area and headed to start getting ready for our day. After showering and packing our 'Stagecoach' bag we headed out. Friday's line up was pretty amazing and we were anxious for the day to begin. The line up for the main stage on Friday was: Cam, Logan Mize, Brothers Osborne, Parmalee, Kacey Musgraves, Kip Moore, Jake Owen and Tim McGraw. I knew that I wanted to be there and settled before 4:30 pm because Parmalee too the stage which meant that we had to leave the hotel no later then 2 pm. Before leaving we took couple photo's to personalize the event.

Friday night was awesome. Tim McGraw was amazing. The whole event ended around midnight and we ended up back at the hotel around 3:30am.

It was a lot harder getting up for the 9am breakfast Saturday morning because we had only slept apx 5 1/2 hours. I feel asleep at the pool and woke up around 12:30 - which was perfect!! I planned otu my outfit for Saturday months in advance and I even got a custom shirt made. Plus you can't attend a 'Dierks Bentley' concert and not wear a white tank top w blue jeans..
'because that look drives me wild'. "Sideways by Dierks Bentley".

The line up for Saturday was: David Fanning, Clare Dunn, John & Jacob, The Cadillac Three, Cassadee Pope, Eli Young band, Justin Moore, Dierks Bentley, and Miranda Lambert.  We had already agreed that we wouldn't be staying for Miranda Lambert just because of how late we were there Friday.

The first thing I did upon arrival Saturday was buy some swag.. Dierks Bentley swag that is. The husband picked up a shot glass. The day was great!

As planned we left right after Dierks Bentley finished his amazing hour concert. We headed back to the car which was an apx 2 mile walk each way.. yea.. 2 mile walk from the parking lot to the venue.
More then 3/4 of the way to the car the baby moved and completely landed on my sciatic nerve. It took over an hour for us to walk 2 miles to the car. I was so embarrassed because we were getting passed by all these people and there was nothing I could do. The husband was amazingly sweet and tried to help my by rubbing my hips prior to getting in the car for our hour drive. Upon getting back to the hotel my sciatic was still bothering me and we ended up sneaking into the hot tub after hours to get some sweet relief.
{Don't worry google said that pregnant women can sit in a hot tub that is 100* or less. The hot tub wasn't on and I set on the sets barely submerging my stomach.}

It took a really long time for me to fall asleep Saturday night and I woke up with a stomach ache that scared me to death. I woke up with pains and when I would touch my stomach - it felt like needles were inside of me. I decided to try to make it through breakfast and chalked it up to the amazing Carne Asada nacho's we had the night before.
{pictured here}

Needless to say the pain didn't go away and we ended up calling our OB. Labor & Delivery said that it didn't sound like braxton hicks but if it didn't go away then I'd need to go in to a hospital to be seen. They suggested taking some Tylenol to see if the pain subsided.

At this point we had missed checkout so we went over by the pool to let the Tylenol do it's job. We passed a hospital on the way to the venue everyday so we figured we were closer to one we knew where it was then being on the road and having to find one. The pain subsided but I was really nervous about attending day 3 and having it come back in the middle of all those people.

Let me explain that this is a HUGE Venue and people didn't exactly move out of your way. Here is a pictures I found on Stagecoach.com to show you the venue. The red looking building was the main stage. I didn't want to push through a crowd and heaven forbid if the sciatic nerve thing happened again. Although we were upset for missing the third day line up it was easier to be safer then sorry.

The lineup for Sunday was: Maddie & Tae, Keith Anderson, The Swon Brothers, Frankie Ballard, Jerrod Neimann, Sara Evans, The Band Perry, and Black Shelton.

Our weekend was still great and we were semi relaxed by the time we got back home. Although we will have a 9 month old this time next year.. we are still thinking about purchasing tickets for 2016. They have an RV park that is attached to the venue so it's an option. Once August comes around we should know if we are going to be able to make it. 2016 will be our last year to attend before Ben goes back to sea.

Write or Die Wednesdays: The Stars Up Above

I saw these posts from The Chronicles of Chaos and just had to be a part of it!
I'm joining this bi-weekly link up to brush up on my writing skills & hopefully to help me get back in blogging.

Write or Die Wednesdays

I believe this particular post was due last week but hell.. I'm going to write this all out this week.
This weeks prompt is the follow picture:

The day was winding down and as she started the dishwasher she let out a sigh. She started to wipe down the counters as she reflected back on the day and she knew that tomorrow would be even busier. In that moment she wanted to be on a sandy beach with a cold drink in her hand far, far away.
Her husband entered the kitchen and she watched him walk over the frig barefoot to grab a couple of beers. Her husband flashed his crooked smile at her as he grabbed her hand leading her out to the patio. He lead her to the wooden porch swing that looked out over the freshly mowed yard. In the distance she could see the barn outlined by the moons glow. Her husband opened both the beers and passed her one. She took a sip of the cold beer feeling it slowly flow down her throat.

She took a moment and looked up at the stars twinkling above their heads. Without a word they both rocked back and forth enjoying the night air across their faces. They set listening to the cicada's singing along with the frogs in the nearby pond. Closing her eyes, listening to the sound of the wind playing with the leaves and could smell the earthy aroma that flowed around them.  In the distance she could hear the sounds of the animals on their neighbors farm. Somewhere in the distance she could hear the hooting of an owl.

As they set on their back porch swaying back and forth she could feel the stress melt away. The mixture of the cicada's and frogs singing along with the earthy smells of the night made her relax. In that moment she knew that no beach in the world would reach her soul the way this peace of earth did. That the sounds of the waves crashing against the shore were no match for the sounds of their country lives. She rested her head on her husbands shoulder and they silently listened to the night as they swayed back n forth on their porch swing.
The End.

Feel free to join the bi-weekly link up with The Chronicles of Chaos and showing off your writing skills.

sleepless post

It is 6:08am and I'm wide awake. Actually I've been wide awake for almost two full hours. I thought this whole sleep change thing would happen later in my third trimester not show up hand in hand. Most days I'm going to bed around 4 am and sleeping until 11 am. (drives me nuts) Last night I was so tired that I passed out around 9:30 pm and woke up at 12:45 am, 2:30 am and then 4:20 am. I don't get it - as I yawn while typing that I express to you that "I'm tired"!! Thankfully I go see my OB this morning and I can ask about that. I also have my glucose this morning - which I am not looking forward to either. BTW I'd like to throw a little food for thought out..

If digestional diabetes is so dangerous for Mom and baby ... then why is it tested so late? Why wait until week 28 to check? I mean I'm sure if you are already 20 pounds over your recommended weight then maybe they'd check you earlier.. hopefully. It just seems so ludicrous to sell me that this is so important for the both of us but yet do it so close to the end of our pregnancy. If you aren't aware of the what I'm talking about you can read the article from babycenter.com here.

Outside of these awesome sleeplessness nights I have been thinking a lot about my blog. It needs a face lift. It needs some TLC. I think back to how great Trials & Triumphs was and I wish I had never changed the name. Then again I put a lot of time in Trials & Triumphs and really worked on building it's name. I guess that's what I need to do with this version. I'm tossing around the idea of modifying the name but I'm not sure. To be honest I've tossed around the idea of letting my URL go and just stop blogging all together. Then I remember that I have a baby coming & my husband will going back to sea soon... I might need the blog for sanity.

Well peeps it's 6:30 and I'm going to try to get some sleep. That way I'll stop thinking about a cup of coffee and I'll pass this test. Hope everyone has a great day!!

essentials.

Going into a third trimester has made us giddy. Giddy, Stressed, overwhelmed... oh yea and excited.

This past weekend I was making a hospital bag list & a list of things I still need to purchase. A combined three pages later I had to stop and ask myself.. REALLY?!!

So I went through pinterest to look up lists of what to bring in the hospital bag(s). Between the four that I found that I actually agreed with - I made my own list of what I really needed to bring. I have to ask though.. why does the Mom-to-be need five outfits?? Seriously every list requested that I bring 3-4 nightgowns & a going home outfit. Since I have never done this before I say ... WHY? Don't they give you a hospital gown? Aren't you basically naked giving birth? Don't they ask that you do skin to skin for a min of an hour before showering and stuff ?? Aren't you there for a max of 24 hours, lord willing, anyway? I'm just at a loss of why you need that many outfits to give birth.

I'm also at a loss of what I really need once we get home. I have been reading a lot of different breastfeeding articles on pinterest and all of them have a list of different things you'll need.
Some of them are great ideas.. stuff I wouldn't have thought twice about.. like flushable wipes!
I'm just a little lost on stuff like:
*do you buy disposable nursing pads or reusable?
*gel pads (lansinoh), thermal pads (avent), therapearl (lansinoh), oh my! They all do basically the same thing so what's better?
*oh and the nipple cream.. every post has a different brand they recommend. I think I have leaned towards using "earth mama".

Basically I'm lost because I don't know a whole bunch about breast feeding. I don't know what to really expect and I feel it's a 'everyone is different' kind of thing too. I, thankfully, have a amazon prime account and I can order things pretty quickly if need be.. it's just getting what you really need before hand so that you aren't constantly buying stuff. Oh and the hubby will be home for the first couple of months too.. i'm sure he'd love running to the store.

It's just so much stuff on top of all the gear you think you'll need. I'll reserve my 'panic' for what's left on our registry after our baby shower. I have convinced myself that what is left is what we will need.. but I'm pretty sure I can live without a pack n play & a high chair for a good six months or so. I'm also pretty sure that I don't need 20 bottles right out of the gun either.

As my husband so nicely stated yesterday.. welcome to the beginning of the nesting stage... lol

So I ask.
What was in your hospital bag?
If you did breastfeed what were your "must have" items?
What were coming home items you just had to have that poeple wouldn't think about?

26 weeks!!

Why hello blog world. I wish I had some awesome excuse explaining my lack of posting.. but I don't. I also wish I had some exciting "oh my gosh" story to share with you but I don't. I can, however, explain that I have some cool things coming up pretty quickly!!

Stagecoach is just two more weeks away and I've been busy getting prepared for that. I've been buying maternity shorts and shirts for the trip. I got a custom shirt made for the day that Dierks Bentley preforms:
Plus making sure the hubby has the essentials he needs too. We also have to bring lawn chairs, blankets, water bottles.. etc. We had to find dog sitters that we can trust because Grizzly needs his medicine twice a day. We also had to find a back up sitter just in case something happens with the priority person we elected. Ok so I worry & I over plan - it's ok.
What is Stagecoach? Stagecoach is a three day country music festival in Indio, CA. The bands start at 11am and go until midnight. I am so excited and anxious to go!!!! You can find more information about Stagecoach at the their website: here.

We also have our baby shower on May 15th to look forward too! My husbands office is throwing us a shower and we are so thankful! The ladies had a meeting today to go over menu's, games and answer some questions for them. I got to see our shower invitations - which are adorable. I have found that the two most difficult questions to answer are: 1. what do you need for the baby? 2. How many extra invitations do you need? Sadly my go to responses are: what ever is left on my registry and I have no idea. I have no idea on the invitations because you are inviting people to celebrate your pregnancy with you. For me a lot of those people are out of state & I feel like they are getting a "buy me a gift" reminder instead of a "wish you were here" note. Not to mention we will be sending out baby announcement pictures after the birth. As far as the 'gifts' it isn't about getting gifts but celebrating the fact that we are having a baby!! Everyone keeps asking so it's whatever you want to get us .. if you want to get us anything.

Okay.. so lets get to the Q&A portion of this post.
How far along? 26 weeks!

Weight Gain/Loss:  so far it's still 6+
Sleep: it's getting harder to sleep at night just because the baby moves a lot which causes me to have to get up and pee. So early mornings have become my sleeping time frame between 3 am - 10 am. If I can get to sleep earlier then of course I'm up earlier.
Best moment of the week: I think my favorite part has been ordering my first pairs of maternity shorts. I love that I can still wear some of pre-pregnancy clothes but they are getting more and more snug. Also getting through our last children's holiday without a kiddo! Easter we are coming for ya next year!!
Movements: When is this kid NOT moving! The baby likes to stay low.. below my belly button. My tummy is constantly jumping & you can see the baby move around too! That is pretty cool!
Food cravings/aversions: I still don't like chicken & I'm not a fan of sweets. I love anything potato but mostly stick to fruits. For the past two weeks I have woken up craving donuts - I have no idea but I finally caved last weekend. For the most part I try to stick to foods with protein and fruits.
Pregnancy Symptoms: As blessed as I am to just be pregnant I have to say that now my stomach hurts. My OB says it's due to the baby moving around so much. My nipples are starting to hurt a lot (well they are) and the bottom of my feet absolutely kill me. If I'm being completely honest my bladder is also taking a beating since the kid loves to sit on it.
What I miss: Again I love being pregnant.. really but I have a handful of things I miss. I miss not having to pee every 20 min, I miss alcohol, seafood, having energy, sleeping normal hours and I'm not a huge fan of having to buy maternity clothes.
Stretch Marks: I am so blessed to say that I do not have any stretch marks and I still love my palmers oil!
Belly Button: You can completely see a change in my belly button. It's not an outtie but it's getting close!
Wedding Rings: oh man it's been weeks since I have been able to wear them. They got so tight  all of a sudden!
Mood: I think I have a pretty good demeanor! As uncomfortable as my feet make me I don't complain that often and if I do it's usually only to the hubby.
Labor signs: none
Milestones: We are one week away from entering into the 3rd trimester!!
Upcoming events/appointments: Stagecoach is the biggest upcoming event - our babymoon if you will. We have our baby shower in mid May & then a 4D ultrasound the first of June.
What I look forward too: I feel like the these three last questions are all the same. I think we have planned all our events out so that we have something to look forward too every month of our last trimester.

I'm sure I'll be posting soon after Stagecoach!!
Thanks for stopping by!
